We have a couple of fund-raising schemes that are ongoing in school; if you would like more details of these, please call in to school and ask about them.
Go For Gold
We can turn your unwanted, broken gold into cash! If you have any broken gold jewellery or have lost an earring and don't know what to do with the spare one, you can bring them into school and thanks to Mr & Mrs Roberts, who work in the jewellery trade, we can convert these into cash for the school. When we ran this scheme previously, it raised over £1000, so we hope that we can continue to raise funds in this way.
FBCS Travel Club
If you book holidays with fusiontravel (www.fusiontravel.co.uk), you can earn discounts on holidays you book and at the same time up to 2.5% of these costs are donated to FBCS. All holidays booked are fully bonded and package deals are ATOL protected too, so you can have peace of mind about that well-earned break and help the school at the same time. As an example of how FBCS would benefit, a week's holiday on the Costa del Sol in the February half-term costing £283.42 would earn £22.38 for the school! To take advantage of the many offers available, put in the code FBCS when booking and the company does the rest!
Please note that holidays should not be taken in term-time, as we do very much value the education available at BCS!!
Friends of Barnsley Christian School (FBCS) is a group of parents, friends, staff and pupils who are working to improve the facilities in school and enhance the school's family atmosphere.

2011 information
Following the planning meeting on 17th January, we have a number of dates for the diary and news of things to come!
Social/ games evening Saturday 5th March
Since we have had to postpone the Murder Mystery play until such a time as we have found a new director (if you know anyone willing to direct the play, please let me know!), we have decided to hold a social evening on that date. It will be time to get the Wii-Fit out and have lots of fun together. This is not really a fund-raiser as such, but we hope that it will be a good way to get to know each other better.
Chocolate Bake 'n' Take Monday 28th March
We need home-baking for the Bake 'n' Take and have decided to have a chocolate theme for the event, so hopefully you will provide lots of delicious chocolate items for us to eat!
Future events
In addition, we are planning a Sponsored Walk in the summer term (probably in May) and hope to produce the Murder Mystery play at a later date.
The Bag2School collections (where you bring in old clothes, handbags, belts, shoes etc.) will run again this year. They will be on Tuesday 17th May and Wednesday 16th November; bags will be sent out nearer the time.
The next planning meeting will be on Monday 7th February at 7.30 p.m. in school, so please do come along to that.

Planning meeting
The next FBCS planning meeting will be on Monday 17th January at 7.30 p.m. in school, so please do feel free to attend. There is a lot to arrange and sort, as we don't have much in the pipeline at the moment.
Mick Whicker has regretfully decided he is unable to direct the Murder Mystery Play that was scheduled for 5th March, so if that event is going to go ahead, we need a new director. Any volunteers?!
