Further news on Sports Day

When?
Friday 15th July, starting at 10 a.m. and finishing at 3 p.m.

Where?
Shaw Lane Cricket/ Rugby Club, situated just off Racecommon Road in Barnsley.

Who?

All pupils and staff will be involved in the Sports Day and parents are welcome to come along to support children (and take part in Parents' races!) for some or all of the day.

What do pupils need?

Pupils need to arrive in school in school uniform at the usual time (by 9 a.m.) They will then change into PE kits and will be accompanied to Shaw Lane by staff members.

The PE kit should consist of:
1) a plain T-shirt (either blue, red or green, depending on the child's team - see the team lists sent out by ParentMail this week)
2) black jogging trousers or shorts
3) socks and trainers

Pupils should also bring:
1) a snack
2) a packed lunch (including a drink)
3) a bottle of water
4) a sun hat
5) suntan cream
6) a raincoat

What's the programme?

1) Sponsored Walk from 10-11 a.m.
2) Team races from 11.15 a.m. until 12.30 p.m.
3) Lunch & ice-cream/ lollipop (provided by FBCS)
4) Penalty Shoot-out 1.30-2.15 p.m.
5) Parents' Races 2.15-3.00 p.m.

Who wins?

The team with the most points wins the Christina Mulder Trophy.
Points will also be added to the house points collected throughout the year.

Why?
Sports Day provides an excellent opportunity to:
1) involve pupils of all ages in sporting activities
2) take part in whole school activities based on the House system, which encourages team spirit
3) be involved in outdoor activities, despite the limitations of not having a sports field of our own
4) raise funds for the school through the Sponsored Walk
5) enable parents, friends, staff and pupils to be involved in a whole school activity during term-time

SEE YOU THERE!
